Marcia and John - Team FlabBusters

Why? What?

We are a busy husband and wife team. How busy? Marcia is 41 years old and is a first year medical student. John works full-time. We have 5 children ranging in age from 5 to 19.

Why are we are entering the Biggest Loser Contest? Here's some of our reasons:

  • Live a long healthy life
  • Live long enough to see grand kids (get busy Mattie and Kevin)
  • Go on a cruise
  • Look good for my spouse
  • More energy for playing with kids
What are we going to do to win?
  • Be held accountable
  • Have fun
  • Go for walks, weather permitting (hey, we live in Chicago)
Why should we win?
  • Because we're good enough, smart enough, and gosh darn it, people like us

Meal ideas

Chicken Potpie

4 cans vegtables, 2 cans low-fat cream of chicken soup, chopped cooked chicken breast, and pie dough. Boil and dice chicken. Mix with veggies and soup. Place in small foil containers and top with pie dough. Cook at 450 for 15 minutes. Makes 8 pot pies, most kids love them!

Veggie Omelet

1/2 C Eggbeaters, 2 C Fresh Spinach, 1/2 C Fresh Mushrooms, 1/8 C Onion. Chop up the veggies and saute them in a pan sprayed with nonfat spray. I know the Spinach seems like a lot but it does cook down quite a bit, I sometimes put 3 cups. Spray another pan warm up, then pour eggbeaters in and cook on Medium heat. After the eggbeaters are solid, (about 30 seconds) put veggies on top and cover pan with lid. About 1 minute later fold half over and put on a plate with fresh tomatoes or salsa. It is only 100 calories. You can serve it with whole grain or wheat toast. Yumm!

THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN

It is official!  My husband is getting downright skinny!  You know you are losing weight when people you see everyday, ask if you have lost weight since they saw you last.  His sister saw him Wednesday then Friday and said she could not believe how skinny he was looking.  Of course he don't see it, but I think he secretly loves it when others tell him they can see the loss.  I think it is about time for some new photos.  Then maybe he will be able to see it too.

My last couple of weigh ins have been a bit disappointing to say the least.  I lost 0 pounds then 1 pound.  I know it is from not working out.  I have to make time, but it seems as if I have to make time for so much right now that working out is the last thing that gets this "time" that doesn't exist.  Hopefully soon I can get enough time to exercise.

Long Time

Sorry it has been so long since I blogged.  I have been super bust preparing for neuro and physio exams.

John is down to a 38 pants.  I am so proud of him ,  He continues to amaze me everyday.

I bought an elliptical last week, but have only had a few opportunities to use it.  Hopefully I can use it more in the coming week.

Thursday!

I bought an elliptical today.  I am so excited.  I was on it for about 30 minutes and my legs were killing me.  John tried it out.  I think he likes it, but he also prefers going outside and walking.  It is supposed to SNOW here all weekend.  I just cannot believe it.  It was so beautiful yesterday and today.  Oh well, such is life.

John made the most delicious dinner tonight.  He bought a chicken at the store that was already seasoned and in a bag.  All we had to do was throw it in the oven.  It was so tasty!  It was juicy and just great.  I loved it.  He is such a good cook.

He is going to have to go shopping soon for another pair of pants.  I swear his pants are getting baggier by the day. He is my Hot Tamale!

7 Pounds!

John and I lost seven pounds this week.  He lost 4 and I lost 3.  He has lost a total of 18.5 pounds.  Isn't that amazing?  I am so proud of him.  I know I say that a lot on here, but it is so true.  He has always loved to eat sweets.  After every dinner, he had to have a "tasty dessert".  Now he has apples with cinnamon in his Healthy Choice meal at lunch, and maybe some salsa after dinner.  I never thought he would be able to go without his sweets, but he has really done a fantastic job of sticking with his commitment to get healthy.  Now if I could do something about the parts of me that are shrinking that I do not necessarily want to shrink.

Saturday

John and I went to do our regular Saturday shopping trip.  We always go eat breakfast and get veggie omelets.  I get egg whites and John gets eggbeaters.  Today we were eating and it was tasty and then John bit into an eggshell.  Which means it was not eggbeaters that .he was eating, it was regular eggs.  He was very upset, and hungry.  He could not reorder the omelet because he had already had so many calories from the real eggs.  I felt so bad for him and really upset with the cook.  Oh well such is life.

After we get groceries we always get our kids lunch out.  Today was so hard driving in the car and smelling Burger King.  I am not a huge burger fan, but today I could have eaten about 3 whoppers I think.  They smelled so good.  Instead we came home and cooked our Weight Watcher meals.  I really do love those little dinners.  John really loves the Healthy Choice meals with a dessert.

John has gone down 2 pant sizes.  It took a lot of convincing to make him even try his "skinny" shorts on.  I told hem it was one size smaller, then when he put them on, and they fit, I told him they were actually 2 sizes smaller.  He didn't believe me..LOL, he had to look at th tag himself.  I am so darn proud of him.

We tried the one cheat meal thing that Bob talked about on Tuesday.  John says we will see if he loses weight this week to decide if we will have a cheat meal every week or not.  It is so funny to hear him be concerned about his weight.  He really has never said anything about it, until we started this contest.  He is doing so awesome, and always so strong willed.

Well I gotta run, time to study.
